Periodontal Disease in the Busiest City in the World According to some sources and surveys, around 80 percent of the residents of New York City have some stage of periodontal disease – in many cases without even knowing it. The cause of not so good oral hygiene is supposed to be their busy life style and for most people in the busiest city in the world that is just the reality you have to face if you live in Big Apple. The tissues that support and surround our teeth are most affected by periodontal disease but it can also cause long-term damage to the teeth. Most common symptoms include: extremely bad breath, easily bleeding gums, swollen and tender gums or/and gums become very bright red in appearance. In really bad cases periodontal disease even causes the mouth sores. This condition is serious but it can be (almost) entirely prevented by keeping our mouth clean at all times by: rinsing with water after every meal, flossing after eating, using all-natural dental products and herbal mouthwashes.
