By choosing the right evergreen perennial for your backyard, you can significantly reduce and in some cases even eliminate pruning. Before you buy any kind of new plant make sure you know its mature width and height. That's the only way to put the right plant to the right spot and to avoid having picture windows and entryway overgrown or even swallowed up by a plant that caught you by surprise and grew much bigger than ever expected. Evergreens come in all sizes and shapes - from low and wide mound to large and pyramidal, from tiny and round to anything else you can imagine.
